For many years, the Boston Common has served as a space for a great variety of activities, festivals, and celebrations that bring together people from all over the city. Summer in particular brings many activities to this great public space–some old favorites and also plenty of chances to try something new!
Here’s what’s happening over the next few weeks:
–Yoga at the Frog Pond will continue until August 28, mats and blocks available on a first come, first serve basis
–Commonwealth Shakespeare Company continues its 17th season with the performance of Coriolanus. If you haven’t had the chance to see it, there are only three performances left, on August 7, 11, and 12.
-On August 11, come to the Common for CSC family day featuring the Circus guild, caricature artist Alejandro Yegros. and a special youth oriented performance of A Kidsummer Night’s Dream.
-Long absent from the Boston Common, Puppets on the Common returned last year under the direction of Master Puppeteer Charlotte Dore, Artistic Director of Rosalita’s Puppets. For the hundredth anniversary of the Parkman Bandstand in the Boston Common, Ms. Dore will be joined by the Stiletto Singers on Thursday, August 23 at 10:30 a.m.
–Carousel rides will continue throughout the summer starting at 11 am and ending at 9 pm, open daily.
