We had a wonderful time last week with the Beacon Hill Garden Club on Boston Common. The garden club created a huge check made out to the friends and made a symbolic presentation of it to Henry Lee, our president. Performance artist Katja Esser, the Advent School, State Senator Sonia Chang-Diaz and State Representative Marty Walz all contributed to make the afternoon very special. Katja Esser’s costume captured the imagination of all present, and her associate Larry Buell described this performance as a very special occasion for him, as his family had been members of the garden club at its founding.
While we continue to celebrate our newest donation, we are always looking for new ways to support the three historic open spaces for which we advocate: the Common , the Boston Public Garden and The Commonwealth Avenue Mall. Last month we invited parks advocates from around the country to Boston to participate in a panel discussion of tactics we could implement in Boston. If you missed it, you can still watch all of them on our Youtube channel. And we’d like to hear your ideas about creating revenue streams for parks.
